In short: this page collects Cyber Snowden’s guides on security frameworks, audits and governance. Use it to choose a framework, prepare for an audit, close control gaps and pick tools that reduce compliance workload.
Compliance work is easier when it follows a sequence: choose the framework your customers and regulators expect, understand its controls, assess your gaps, then automate evidence collection. The sections below follow that order.
Start here: read our overview of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, then NIST CSF vs ISO 27001 if you are choosing between the two most widely used.

Frequently asked questions
What is a cybersecurity compliance framework?
A framework is a structured set of security requirements or practices. Some, such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2, lead to a certification or audit report. Others, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, are voluntary guidance.
Which framework should my company follow?
Follow the one your customers and regulators ask for. US defense contractors need CMMC, SaaS vendors are usually asked for SOC 2, and international buyers often expect ISO 27001. Many controls overlap, so work done for one supports the others.
Is compliance the same as security?
No. Compliance shows that defined controls exist at a point in time. Security is the ongoing work of reducing real risk. A good program uses a framework as a baseline and goes further where its own risks require.
